Anyeong chingus! It’s been about six months since I left Korea and I thought I would turn my nostalgia into productivity! Korean music is rising to the top and reaching a larger world-wide audience than ever before. To my surprise and excitement, I’ve learned that many of my students here in Spain, are really into K-pop. There are some K-pop songs I fancy, and the ones I don’t are generally less painful than American pop lately, however there is a lot groovy stuff happening in Korea that doesn’t make its way to foreign audiences as often as EXO and the like.
So If you are looking to expand your musical horizons, here are twenty of my favorite songs by Korean artists.
It was really hard not to make an entire playlist of Hyukoh’s music because he is hands down my favorite Korean artist and one of my favorite artists period.
Seriously, just go check out his whole discography
Sounds almost like American top 20…but like way better
This girl has an Ariana Grande vocal range PLUS the ability to create unique music, yay!
Probably the dopest song I heard while in Korea
I feel as if the bridge is way more catchy than the chorus, but fun song non the less
If I’ve left you wanting more, check out this underground Korean hiphop/r&b playlist which is where I found a few of the songs here.
